Apple: New iPad's first weekend sales record

Apple CEO Cook said that the new iPad's first weekend sales record a new record.

Apple announced on the phone this morning that it will use its cash to pay dividends to shareholders and make stock repurchases. When Gene Munster, an American investment bank Piper Jaffray analyst, asked about the sales of the new iPad, Cook said: “We were excited to record a sales volume last weekend.”

As for the record is limited to iPad tablet sales record, or Apple's sales record of all products, currently can not be determined, Cook also did not give specific sales figures. According to Munster’s forecast, Apple sold more than 1 million iPads on its first weekend.

When the iPad 2 was introduced last year, Apple had not announced specific sales until the financial conference after the release of the conference call to disclose relevant information. Since its launch in 2010, Apple has sold more than 55 million iPads. In the first quarter of fiscal 2012 as of the end of December, Apple sold 15.43 million iPads.

The new iPad was officially launched on Friday, but before that, Apple's online orders were booked and new users needed to wait two to three weeks before they could book.
